The story behind a logo
You have probably seen some logos hundreds of times and you know these logos through and through, in your own opinion. But what if I told you most logos have a “secret” message behind them? Most logos are well thought out, you can only see the hidden message when you immerse yourself into the identity of the brand or organisation. In this blog we tell you about the greatest stories behind the logos of well-known brands. And we tell you the story behind the egg of Boerenjongens!
Airbnb
The Airbnb logo is made from four simple symbols: a “head” to represent the people who use Airbnb, a location pictogram to represent the different places, a heart for love, and last but not least an A, which stands for Airbnb. The founders of the brand think that the logo must represent that a traveler should always feel like they’re at home, no matter where they are.
Toblerone
Toblerone is a brand that has more than one hidden story. The name isn’t only the combination of the family name ‘Tobler’ and the word ‘Torrone’ (Italian for nougat), the place name Bern is also reflected in the brand name. Which is the place where Toblerone originated.
Behind the logo is also a story. In the logo, Switzerland’s well-known mountain is shown: the Matterhorn. But when you look closely at the mountain, you can see a (dancing) bear standing on his hind legs. And a bear happens to be exactly in the symbol of the city where the chocolate brand originated, Bern.
Hyundai
The Hyundai logo doesn’t only stand for an H, as most people think. It symbolizes two people shaking hands. A satisfied purchase agreement between a customer and the company. Using the logo, Hyundai wants to show that they are close with the consumer. This way, the logo doesn’t only match with the first letter of the brand name, but also the values of the brand.
Boerenjongens
We at Boerenjongens lay an egg every now and then. That egg doesn’t only fit really well with our “farmer” name, it also stands for all the ideas that we have. For us, ideas are a kind of eggs that we hatch by making a concept a reality. In the end, the world only exists from different hatched eggs which feel like our chicks.
