Spaanse Galgo's

Een hondenleven in Spanje

‘Galgo’s, zo worden de honden in Spanje genoemd die voor de jacht worden ingezet. Het zijn prachtige Spaanse windhonden, waarvan het lot tragisch is. Aan het einde van het jachtseizoen zijn veel galgo’s overbodig geworden en worden er jaarlijks tienduizenden op brute wijze gedumpt of vermoord. Meestal opgeknoopt aan een boom of in een put gegooid.

Het is onvoorstelbaar dat dit nu nog steeds gebeurd. WAP (World Animal Protection) is een campagne gestart om het publiek bekend te maken met deze praktijken zodat we er met z’n allen iets tegen kunnen ondernemen. WAP vroeg ons voor het concept en de visualisatie. Samen met illustrator Ferdy Remijn bedachten we een pakkend beeld als spil voor de campagne.

Animatie
Met Urrebuk (animatie en video) ontwikkelden we een drietal korte animaties die het rotleven van de galgo’s kort en krachtig onder onze aandacht brengt. In 2017 heeft het WAP met meer dan 100.000 Nederlandse handtekeningen een sterk signaal kunnen afgeven in Spanje. Wij hopen echt dat dit zinloze leed snel stopt!

A dog’s life in Spain

Galgos', is the name of hunting dogs in Spain. They are beautiful Spanish greyhounds, with tragic fates. At the end of the hunting season, many galgos are no longer needed and tens of thousands are brutally dumped or murdered every year. Usually they are tied to a tree and left, or just thrown into a well.

It is inconceivable and disgusting that this is still happening today. WAP (World Animal Protection) has launched a campaign to make the public aware of these practices so that we can all take action to stop them. WAP has asked us for the concept and visualization. Together with illustrator Ferdy Remijn we came up with a catchy image to serve as the linchpin for the campaign.

Animatie

With Urrebuk (animation and video) we developed three short animated films that bring the rotten life of the Galgos to our attention in short, yet powerful messages. In 2017, the WAP was able to send a strong signal to Spain with more than 100,000 Dutch signatures. We really hope that this senseless cruelty and suffering will stop soon!
